Mystery Babylon - The Woman on the Scarlet Beast
Mystery Babylon - A Woman on a Scarlet Beast - The Mother of Harlots
The Scarlet Woman riding the Beast with seven heads is sometimes interpreted as the Roman Catholic Church, because scarlet and purple are the colours of the Papal garments! A bit much to attach a label of "Mother of Harlots" to the pope!
The narrative starts at: Revelation Ch.17
1] And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither; I will shew unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters: with whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication. So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.
We have already identified the beast with 7 heads and ten horns as the Arab League, which has seven member states. The names of blasphemy on their heads are probably the names of the individual countries such as Egypt, Iraq and so on, which are, of course, all Arab Muslim states, which Jewish translators and editors of the Bible would in the past have claimed to be “blasphemous”
(4) And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication: And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.
(6) And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration. And the angel said unto me, wherefore didst thou marvel? I will tell thee the mystery of the woman, and of the beast that carrieth her, which hath the seven heads and ten horns. (8)The beast that you saw was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.
That’s wonderful, but we already know who the beast is, because there is only one of them with seven heads! What we want to know is: who is the woman riding the beast?
On the face of it, since she is “drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus” she would appear to be just what her label says: Babylon, the original country which killed and took into slavery the original “martyrs” from ancient Israel, or modern Babylon, aka Iraq, which murdered the “saints” on 9/11.
But that doesn’t make sense because it later says the “horns” of the beast “hate the whore” But they are the “kings” who have joined forces with the beast, so they can hardly hate Babylon/Iraq which is a part of the beast!
We will see later that the whore is not actually Babylon when the angel gives us a clue and we realise that the word “mystery” is the equivalent of a question mark, showing that it is not actually Babylon but that there is a riddle here to be solved!
The other riddle is that it now seems that at the time of this prophecy, the beast no longer exists but on the other hand it does! Let’s deal with the second riddle first.
If we look at the Arab League, after the war officially ceased in Iraq in 2004, we can understand this conundrum. By now there are 22 states in the League. So the original 7-headed beast no longer exists, but it still does as part of the larger league. It was, is not yet still is!
(9) And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains (states), on which the woman sitteth. And there are seven kings: five are fallen, one is, and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space. And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition.
We have already established that there are seven states in the Arab League, so there should be at least seven “kings” according to the date we are considering. But it says here that five are “fallen”, or have ceased to be kings, “one is” (currently reigning) and one is “yet to come”. When he comes, he will only reign for a short time.
We are obviously talking about different “kings” or “leaders” because if we count the individual kings or leaders of all the states, there have obviously been more than 6 in total and it seems obvious to which leaders Revelation is referring, if we look at the constitution of the Arab League.
The “beast,” which is the 7 states in the Arab League, has an overall “king” of the whole league, called a “Secretary General”, as well as having a king, or leader for each state. So here the focus has switched to the Secretaries General of The League, rather than the heads of the individual states. How can we be certain of this? Because the details of past and present Secretaries General confirm that “5 have been, one is, and another yet to come” in the period in which the Gulf War took Place.
From 1945 to 2010 there were 6 Secretaries General of which (assuming the time of this prophecy is around 2001/2, 5 were “past”, one was (current) and “one was yet to come”. The “one to come” condition was duly fulfilled when Nabil El Araby became the seventh Secretary General in 2011.
If this prophecy is also to be fulfilled, he will be in the position for only a short time. We don’t know why but this will, presumably, become apparent in due course. This is the part of this prophecy which is NOT FULFILLED as yet.
This final Secretary General will obviously no longer have office if the League ceases to exist and this is what the prophecy appears to say when it talks of the beast rising from the bottomless pit and “going into perdition”
It’s strange that it is also said that the current Pope, Francis is going to be "the last one" and even he has admitted recently that he "doesn't expect to be Pope for much longer! Perhaps he knows more about the Bible Prophecies than he cares to share with his flock!
The final prophecy about the beast was an enigma, and as is always the case, there was no way of working out what it meant until it actually happened. But now it seems that it may have happened in 2013 and it can now be interpreted.
And the beast that was, and is not, he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goes into perdition.
A strange thing happened in 2011. Syria was suspended from the league for not taking action to protect civilians in the uprising. But in 2013 the Syrian National Coalition took over the seat and still holds it to this day. Syria was one of the original seven members of the League so the replacement for Syria could be considered the eighth, although other states have joined in the meantime before this exchange.
So the beast referred to here as the eighth is not the same beast as the one with seven heads previously referred to but a separate, smaller beast; a single nation in the form of Syria! So now, if we read the passage again, knowing that we are referring to a different beast in the form of Syria, the following now makes sense:
And the beast that was, (Syria) and is not, (because it has been expelled) he is the eighth, (in the form of the Syrian National Coalition) and is of the seven, (because it is still representing Syria) and goes into perdition.
This last piece of information raises the frightening possibility that Syria will “go into perdition” and cease to exist. Indeed, this prophecy merely endorses a much older one from in the Old Testament, which foretells the destruction of Damascus.
Isaiah 17: Destruction of Damascus
"This message came to me concerning Damascus: 'Look, Damascus will disappear! It will become a heap of ruins. The cities of Aroer will be deserted. Sheep will graze in the streets and lie down unafraid. There will be no one to chase them away. The fortified cities of Israel will also be destroyed, and the power of Damascus will end. The few left in Aram will share the fate of Israel's departed glory,' says the Lord Almighty" (Isaiah 17:1-3, NLT).
You can read more on this subject at his site:
(12) The ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast. These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast. These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.
This makes complete sense now. After pouring out the last of the seven plagues, the “kings from the east”, are identified as terrorist groups crossing into Iraq from Afghanistan and Pakistan, following the defeat of Iraq, described figuratively here as the “drying up of the great River Euphrates”
The Beast, allied to these terrorist groups, will make war with “The Saints”, the Christians, but lose. The Beast going into perdition seems to suggest that the League of Arab Nations breaks up, which would tie in with Nabil El Araby being the last “king” or Secretary General of the league, because the League of Arab States ceases to exist.
(15) And he saith unto me, The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues. And the ten horns which thou sawest upon the beast, these shall hate the whore, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire. For God hath put in their hearts to fulfil his will; to agree, and give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled. And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth.
This now changes the identity of the whore on the beast from Babylon, to the “Great City which reigns over the Kings of the Earth”, which must be the most powerful nation on the earth; the USA. This could be the USA as a country, because John does not always distinguish between even a city and a building (he says a “tenth of the city fell” in the 9/11 prophecy when he meant a “tenth of the building”) so it could be the USA, or a city in the USA.
This now makes more sense when it says “the ten horns which you saw (the ten kings who give their power to the beast” will hate the woman (the USA) and make her desolate and eat her flesh…It makes more sense than the Arab league hating Iraq which is part of their own league!
So back to the point of: “Mystery Babylon”. The word “mystery” means “a question” is being asked or a “riddle” is being posed about who is Babylon. We have been told that the answer is “that great city” and the clue is: The whore of Babylon” and moreover she is the “Mother of Harlots”. So what is the name of the city?
The other clue is that the “ten kings without kingdoms”, the terrorist groups ISIS, Al Qaeda and the other eight who are said to “give their power to the Beast” in the last days, “hate the whore” On this basis alone you could come up with the answer America! But what is the relevance of the label the “Whore of Babylon”. One could understand extremist Muslims labelling the USA a whore, and even the “Mother of Harlots”
But the label is far more specific and brilliantly identifying than that. The answer is definitely a city rather than the USA and the actual city is brilliantly identified.
In ancient Babylon the Goddess Ishtar was the goddess of love and sexuality who hired out the young nymphs or junior goddesses for sexual favours to raise funds for the temple, according to legend. She was also the patron saint of prostitutes! So she was truly the “mother” of harlots! She was also known by the name of Inanna and later Libertas.
It is Ishtar on whom the Statue of Liberty is modelled, which instantly identifies the great city as New York, whose harbour the statue overlooks. That GREAT CITY, spoken of by the “angel” nearly 2000 years ago, is conclusively identified as NEW YORK, which didn’t even exist in those days and “mystery Babylon” is identified as America.
