The Angel with the Little Book - No Prophecy - but still a Revelation!
1 Then I saw another mighty angel coming down from heaven, wrapped in a cloud, with a rainbow over his head, and his face was like the sun, and his legs like pillars of fire. 2 He had a little book open in
his hand. And he set his right foot on the sea, and his left foot on the land, 3 and called out with a loud voice, like a lion roaring; when he called out, the seven thunders sounded.
This cannot be a vision, because John is later asked to take
the book from the angel and he could not take a book, or anything else, from a vision. It must be actually happening in the control room. But how does this “angel” have one foot on the ground and the other on the sea?
Right at the beginning,
when John was describing the control room, he says there was a “sea of glass in front of the throne” and we thought this was possibly a glass “observation panel” in the floor. If this is the case, then the “angel” could
be said to have “one foot on the land (floor) and one on the sea” (of glass). But how did he get into this position? And what is this sea of glass?
He “came down from heaven”, wrapped in a cloud, with
a rainbow over his head, his face like the sun, and his legs like pillars of fire. He CAME DOWN out of nowhere, with an open book in his hand and landed on the “sea of glass”!
When John was first “lifted up in the spirit” into
the room which I could only liken to “Captain Kirk’s flight deck”, I suggested that he might have been lifted up through the “door into Heaven” by some sort of anti-gravity beam. But it seems there may be another explanation.
Followers of Star Trek will know that on the flight deck of Starship Enterprise there is a large circular area and from time to time, with a crackle a fizz and flashing lights, someone will materialize on it, having “beamed up or down, from
outside the ship.
It seems as if this is exactly what has happened here, when the person being beamed down (I say down because this ship is hovering at ground level, so “down” is the only way he could have come) has arrived, taken one step
off the landing pad onto the cabin floor and then stopped in amazement when he sees John.
He has one foot on the “sea of glass” and one on the solid floor! He even has the required device in his hand, like a flip-open mobile phone, exactly
as used by Starship Enterprise crewmen when they ask to be beamed up! John calls it an “open book” But surely they didn’t have books in those days; didn’t they have scrolls?
4 And when the seven thunders had sounded, I was about to write, but I heard a voice from heaven saying, "Seal up what the seven thunders have said, and do not write it down."
Whatever the crewman who had just beamed down said, John was
told not to write it down! Can you imagine the conversation as he was about step off the landing area, and froze mid-stride on seeing this man in a long robe who was obviously a native and should not normally be on the ship?
“What the !*-/?* is
going on here”, said the angel, in language ill befitting one of his calling, still with one foot on the pad and one on the floor?
“It’s OK John,” said he who was seated on the throne, trying desperately to conceal a smile. “Seal
up those words - don’t write them down!”
But it seems the “angel” did not leave the conversation there! The story continues:
5 And the angel whom I saw standing on sea and land lifted up his right hand to heaven 6
and swore by him who lives for ever and ever, who created heaven and what is in it, the earth and what is in it, and the sea and what is in it, (God Almighty! (he said)) that there should be no more delay,
(Don’t stop on my account!) 7 but that in the days of the trumpet call to be sounded by the seventh angel, the mystery of God, as he announced to his servants the prophets, should be fulfilled. (carry on with the presentation!)
Sorry – but that’s exactly what it says! It’s no wonder John was told not to write it down!
8 Then the voice which I had heard from heaven (he who sits on the throne) spoke
to me again, saying, "Go, take the little book which is open in the hand of the angel who is standing on the sea and on the land." 9 So I went to the angel and told him to give me the little book; and he said to me, "Take it and eat; it will be bitter to your
stomach, but sweet as honey in your mouth."
A correction is due here! This is obviously not a mobile communicator in the angel’s hand which we normally see used to beam down, because John would not have been asked to eat it, nor would he
have been able to do so. It appears that this “angel” might have been in the process of snacking “on the run” and what he had in his hand was a bar of some kind of a confectionery.
10 And I took the little book from the hand
of the angel and ate it; it was sweet as honey in my mouth, but when I had eaten it my stomach was made bitter.
“One assumes that “bitter in his stomach” might be a reference to a laxative effect on poor John who was not used
to this type of nourishment. John continues his narrative:
11 And I was told, "You must again prophesy about many peoples and nations and tongues and kings." Which translated says:
“After the break, I was told that it was time
to return to the visions of what must come to pass hereafter, which I must later pass on to many peoples, tongues and nations.”
So why exactly has this anecdote been included in the book? No prophecies have been delivered, no visions have been
shown and John has even been told not to write down what “Mr. Seven Thunders” has said, although the gist of his conversation has in fact, been summed up by John anyway!
What on earth are we supposed to learn from this episode? Why didn’t
those instructing John just delete the whole episode from the record?
The incident has obviously been left on record for a purpose and the only thing we have learned from this episode is that not only does the room where John is being shown visions
look exactly like the Star Ship Enterprise flight deck but the teleporter device, made famous by the film, actually exists in what is becoming increasingly obvious is an advanced alien craft!
Are we being “groomed” to prepare us for the
reality of the long predicted “second coming” which could well be mistaken for a hostile alien invasion, if we are not properly prepared?
In the same way that John is being shown visions of the future on the “Seven Lamps of God”,
which sound suspiciously like video screens, controlled by a “book with seven seals” sounding strangely like a description of a simple remote control, are we being prepared by some higher power, which is managing to incorporate visions of future
technology into our apparently home-produced films and TV programs?
There is a prophecy in the Bible which apparently says just this! It’s in Acts 2:17 and it says:
And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God I will pour out
of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:
I never really took much notice of those
verses when I heard them many years ago and dismissed them as poetical nonsense! Whoever heard of all our children seeing visions? But it has indeed come to pass, that our children “see visions” every day of their lives.
What if the “visitors”
who are instructing John, have always been around and now, in modern times, have are managing to deliver revelations about future technology by putting them into films like Star Trek, Stargate and Elysium, to mention just a few?
The last two above are further amazing “sci-fi” inventions in major films, to add to the teleporter already seen, which are, as you will see shortly, clearly identified in this amazing book in later chapters: a Stargate
Portal and an orbiting, inhabited satellite!
