A War in Heaven - Satan Cast to Earth

It wasn't SATAN but SADDAM HUSSEIN who was cast down - in The Gulf War - 1990

Revelation Ch.12v 7

Now a war arose in heaven, Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought, but they were defeated and there was no longer found any place for them in heaven. and the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the Devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world, he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.

Note here the “Dragon” is not the same as the dragon described before, because it is not the one with “seven heads and ten horns”. This Dragon, who is “thrown down” is called “Satan” and we all know that Satan and the League of Arab States are not the same entity!

However, the two prophecies seem to have been grouped together in the same chapter because both events feature the “mother” of the child, which is the UN in both prophecies but the dragons are different entities, which was apparently not obvious in the 4th century AD when the Bible was assembled under the auspices of Constantine, but is now!

It is interesting to note that apparently the word “Satan” is the word which appears in the Greek version of the Bible and, if translated, would appear in the English version as “adversary”. But for some strange reason it appears in the English version as “Satan” without being translated.

The Bible here offers alternatives when it says: “that ancient serpent, who is called the Devil and Satan, but these are probably additions by some later translator, embellishing the account and trying to show off his knowledge. There are perfectly good words which could have been used in the original like “diablos” if “devil” was intended but the word used is SATAN and strangely, it is left untranslated!!

This brings us to another ploy of disguising identities in prophecies and yet leaving, in the end, no doubt as to who the identity is! It consists of using a name which “sounds like” the person (or place) to which the Bible is referring. For instance, we know that the Final Battle is said to be at Armageddon and yet there is no such place. It is commonly thought to refer to Har Megiddo in Israel (which sounds like) Armageddon

Is this one of those cases where Revelation is saying that the person referred to has a name which “sounds like” SATAN? Does something start to glimmer at the back of your mind? Let’s continue!

This battle was fought “in heaven”, as opposed to on the ground and 2000 years ago “heaven” meant anywhere above the earth. Angels were beings who flew and since we know that men cannot fly without an aircraft of some kind, we might reasonably assume that this is a war “in in the skies” between “aircraft under the control of “Michael” and “aircraft under the control of (sounds like) Satan”.

Is this perhaps the Gulf War where the allies fought the first part of it in the air, to destroy the Iraqi air force, as a prequel to attacking land based defenses and facilitate the ground invasion. The Iraqi air force was quickly and crushingly defeated. Thereafter, there was no longer found any place in the skies for the “Devils Angels” because a no-fly zone was established by the United Nations and enforced by the Allied Air Forces.

If this is indeed the start of the Gulf War, then Satan is identified as Saddam (sounds like Satan) Hussein as the leader of the defeated air force, also referred to, incorrectly, in this case as “The Dragon” or the “Old Serpent”.

This encounter has nothing to do with the original Satan allegedly being cast from Heaven at the beginning of time! It is only an End Times encounter with someone whose name “sounds like Satan”.

But who is Michael? Note that it does not say “Saint Michael” as one might reasonably expect and as some interpreters actually claim, as the leader of a Heavenly Force of “Angels”. It says “Michael”. So who was Michael?

In the same way that Saddam Hussein did not actually pilot one of the aircraft on the day, neither would the individual leading the Allied Air Force himself be flying with Michaels “Angels” on the day.

The Joint Chief of Staff, USAF in Europe, from 1989, who had ultimate overall control of the Allied Air Forces from the start of the conflict in September 1990, was Michael Dugan, until he retired on 31 December 1990!

But we are not yet finished with this prophecy! A leader of our local church was kind enough to point out that we should not read too much into the prophecies of Revelation because, in many cases, they are just a “regurgitation” (my word, not his) of Old Testament Prophecies.

There is one specific prophecy about a very similar event in the Old Testament and I am obliged to the internet bible study site, biblestudy.org, which brought this one to my attention, in answer to a question from me about “where else is Satan mentioned by actual name in the Bible?”

They pointed out that Satin is “sort of” mentioned in Isaiah 14 where it says:

1. thou shalt take up this proverb against the King of Babylon, and say (to him), How hath the oppressor ceased! …………12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! 13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.15 ,Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.

It looks like exactly the same story about flying into heaven and trying to challenge God but being cast down to earth. But look carefully to see who is being addressed. He is called “Lucifer”, an alias for “Satan the fallen angel” but also, as “The King of Babylon”.

Who is The King of modern-day Babylon, which is now Iraq, if not Saddam Hussein? Satan or Lucifer, is positively identified as Saddam Hussein, 800 years before the Amazing Book of Revelation was written!

The final comment from biblestudy.org shows just how little they understand the scriptures with their final words to me:

They say: “In this scripture, many believe that the King of Babylon is mentioned as a type of Satan. Obviously, a king could not go into the heavens and try to exalt himself above all other angels (stars) and be like the most High God.”

They obviously fail to appreciate that the King of Babylon in the End Times, is living at a time when anyone can fly into the heavens!

The chapter concludes with:

Then the dragon was angry with the woman, and went off to make war on the rest of her offspring, on those who keep the commandments of god (Christians) and bear testimony to Jesus.

Saddam Hussein, certainly “went off to make war on the rest of her seed” (the USA) after his defeat in the Gulf War and is generally considered to have funded the Al Qaeda revenge attack on the World Trade Centre on 9/11.
