The Woman with 12 Stars is not Mary

And the Baby is not Jesus! - It is the Creation of the New State of Israel - Fulfilled in 1948

Revelation chapter 12:

And a great portent appeared in heaven, a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars; she was with child and she cried out in her pangs of birth, in anguish for delivery.

And another portent appeared in heaven; behold, a great red dragon, with seven heads and ten horns, and seven diadems upon his heads.4 His tail swept down a third of the stars of heaven, and cast them to the earth.

And the dragon stood before the woman who was about to bear a child, that he might devour her child when she brought it forth; She brought forth a male child, one who is to rule all the nations with a rod of iron, but her child was caught up to God and to his throne.

And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she has a place prepared by God, for one thousand two hundred and sixty days (3.5 years).

The usual explanation is that the mother is Mary, Israel or even The Church and the child is Jesus. But this cannot be true because, as we have already said, apart from other discrepancies in the details of this account, these visions were presented to John specifically to show him what must happen in the future. When this vision was given in 93 AD, the birth of Jesus was already nearly 100 years in the past!

The mother is described as having a crown of 12 stars and here is the first of many little “clues” in this book, which sets the scene and says: “twelve stars - this is about Israel”. It does not mean the mother is Israel, it merely indicates the prophecy is “about Israel”. It is also obvious that there is a birth about to happen and “birth” is a word which can be applied equally to a nation as well as to a baby, so perhaps this vision is predicting the birth of the New State of Israel. If this is indeed the New State of Israel being created, who or what, if anything, stood by to “devour it at birth” and who is the mother? Fortunately, with the benefit of hindsight, we now know the answers!

It was, of course, the United Nations which actually “created” the State of Israel with Resolution 181, in November 1947 and must, therefore, be considered the “mother” of the New State of Israel.

The surrounding Arab neighbours of the proposed new state had threatened from the day the resolution was passed, that if the UN went ahead with the formation, it would attack and destroy the new nation on the day the resolution took effect and they did so on 14th May 1948.

The surrounding Arab countries had joined together in 1945 to form the League of Arab States, comprising seven Arab nations, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Yemen. So the “Dragon with 7 heads” was the collective group of 7 nations called The League of Arab States, which was waiting to devour the “child”, as soon as Israel was created.

The question of the ten horns is not immediately obvious but later in the Book of Revelation it is explained that the “ten horns are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet but receive power with the beast for one hour”. We can deal with the identity of these “kings without kingdoms” in due course but to try to deal with them now would be dealing with things in the wrong order. We will return to these 10 kings without kingdoms, in detail, in due course.

The question of the dragon’s tail sweeping a third of the stars from heaven is another “clue” to the dragon’s identity. Sweeping one third of the stars to earth does not show, as is usually claimed, that Satan drew a third of the “angels of heaven” down with him into the battle.

We know that isn’t true because there were neither real angels nor a real Satan involved in this modern day battle, as we will see in due course. The vision of sweeping one third of the stars to earth refers to the the fact that 31.5% of the world’s population, or almost exactly one third, is Christian. Any reference in this book to “a third of mankind” merely identifies the “Christian population – one third of mankind!

Sweeping the Christians to the floor therefore merely identifies the dragon as an “anti-Christian” entity, which we have already noticed when identifying it as the League of Arab States fiercely attacking the newly-formed State of Israel!

The newly-formed State of Israel desperately defended itself but would have been overrun if it had not been “caught up to God and to his throne”. But look at this carefully! The text does not say, as it first seems, that Israel was “saved by God”. It says: caught up to “God and to his throne” and in another prophecy, which we will deal with shortly, “the throne” is identified as the seat of power of the “god of the earth” that is to say, of the United States, which played a major part in protecting Israel during this time through the United nations.

Finally “the mother” or the United Nations, is said to have been given the “two wings of the great eagle” to escape to a place “prepared for her for 1260 days”, which equates to 3.5 years.

Here is another clue: The bald eagle is the emblem of the United States of America, so is the clue here indicating that the transportation of the mother was “connected to America”?

The United Nations Headquarters was moved from Switzerland in 1952, to New York when the new UN Headquarters building was completed. The only recorded dates of the construction are the laying the cornerstone and the date when the UN moved in, which spans a period of 3 ¼ years from late 1948. However, it is obvious that several months would have been necessary to prepare the site and excavate the foundations, before the cornerstone was laid. So the complete building work including foundations would have taken approximately 3½ years.

The mother could reasonably have been said to have been carried “by the wings of the great eagle” to a “place prepared for her for 1260 days or 3½ years. It was actually the time taken to construct the new headquarters, not the length of time she was to be “protected” there, as one might have assumed from a first reading the prophecy.

Please read the prophecy again and you will see that it can be taken either way! Moreover please note that although one might assume that she was transported to avoid “persecution” by the “dragon”, the prophecy does not specifically say this was the reason and the move was, in fact, not actually related to this in any way.

So it seems that this prophecy accurately foretells the creation of the new State of Israel in 1948 without anything in the prophecy unaccounted for, or unexplained (except the 10 horns, which I promise will be fully explained later) and nothing contradictory to what is written in the Amazing Book of Revelation.

But there is just one further confirmation that the Beast with 7 heads is the league of Arab States.

Revelation 13 says:

3 One of its heads seemed to have a mortal wound, but its mortal wound was healed, and the whole earth followed the beast with wonder.

In 1979, Egypt was suspended from the league because it had signed a peace treaty with Israel but was re-admitted in 1990. The “head” which was “mortally wounded” would seem therefore, to be Egypt, which was one “head” of the seven-head alliance. The mortal wound was “healed” when it was re-elected in 1990.

This not only confirms the identity of the first beast, but also dates this later prophecy about the Beast with 7 heads to 1990 or later, after Egypt’s re-election to the League. We will catch up with this later prophecy about the beast with 7 heads, after the next one about a “War in Heaven”

The War in Heaven, although contained in the same chapter as the first prophecy about the Woman with 12 stars, and apparently involving the same characters, is separated by a period of some 42 years and, on closer inspection, only one of the characters is the same in both prophecies.
